Stop The Bleed
Shenley Brook End School Leads the Way with Pink Punters’ ‘Stop the Bleed’ Training

Pink Punters’ work is backed by some of the UK’s foremost experts in trauma care, including Professor Sir Keith Porter, Major General Tim Hodgetts and Colonel Professor Peter Maloney of the UK armed forces along with Mr Andrew Thurgood – four of the country’s leading trauma surgeons and specialists.
‘Stop the Bleed’ training is a 30 minute program showing people and giving them the opportunity to learn and practice the three main lifesaving skills – Applying DIRECT PRESURE, PACKING A WOUND and applying a TOURNIQUET using only the common things around you when you DO NOT have access to a dedicated bleed kit.
As part of the training session at Shenley Brook End School, Jason Fathers also donated two ‘Jay Fathers’ Bleed Kits in memory of his 18-year-old son, Jay, who was tragically stabbed and killed at a New Year’s Eve party in Milton Keynes. These specialist kits provide essential tools to help control life threatening bleeding and are designed to empower individuals to act swiftly and effectively in emergencies. Jason did however remind people that whilst the bleed kits were highly effective, the ‘Stop the Bleed’ was about learning what to do when one of these kits are not available.
The free – award winning CitizenAID app, which Pink Punters actively promotes, offers clear and practical guidance to the public for managing a wide range of life-threatening situations. Pink Punters encourage everyone to download and familiarise themselves with the content right away. Supported by tailored educational programmes for all age groups, the app ensures users are equipped to respond confidently during incidents, including those involving terrorism.
“Our Ready to Respond strategy was created to prepare our own staff and customers, but we are now focused on sharing this knowledge across all communities,” said Joe McMahon, a paramedic with nearly 40 years of experience. “We are proud to work alongside and have the backing from some of the UKs most senior and respected clinicians. Seconds matter in emergencies, and this training empowers people to act quickly and improvise effectively to save life.
Pink Punters’ long-term goal is to roll out ‘Stop the Bleed’ and other citizenAID training city-wide, ensuring life-saving skills and resources – such as the citizenAID app, education programmes and Bleed Kits – are available in schools, workplaces, and public spaces all over Milton Keynes.
The training at Shenley Brook End School represents a vital step towards creating a safer and better-prepared city, where all individuals have the confidence and tools to respond to emergencies. Why wait – get trained, get equipped – get Ready to Respond!!!
